Decorating for the holidays has been a popular and appealing tradition in America for hundreds of years, with pears, berries, and other seasonal fruits providing beautiful color to wreaths and floral arrangements throughout the winter. Crimson northern cardinals have also long been associated with the winter holidays, and the festive, versatile amaryllis has become increasingly popular as a Christmas gift.

With four mixed-media illustrations of seasonal flora and fauna, the new Holiday Cheer stamps from the U.S. Postal Service usher in the simple pleasures of the season. Art director Derry Noyes designed the Holiday Cheer stamps using collages by artist Denise Fiedler. The artist created the collages using gouache and acrylic paint on background paper from a vintage gardening book. She then cut out the shapes for each image and pasted them onto an archival cotton board.

“My inspiration for the stamp images was what nature presents us with during the holidays — seasonal fruit, amaryllis, holly, mistletoe, and cardinals for their beautiful red color,” says Fiedler.

Holiday Cheer stamps will be available for purchase September 13, 2025, both online and in Post Offices nationwide — perfect timing for the upcoming holiday season!
