Send greetings to friends and family overseas with a special Global Forever® stamp from the U.S. Postal Service.

What is a Global Forever stamp?

The Global Forever stamp provides a convenient, cost-effective way to send one-ounce letters to over 180 countries that accept First-Class Mail International® items — including Canada, Great Britain, Japan, and Australia.

At just $1.70, it's a smart choice for international mail and always retains its value, even if prices go up later. So there's no need to calculate rates or worry about price changes.

How do you differentiate the Global Forever stamp from other Forever stamps?

Global Forever stamps stand out because of their uniquely round shape, a nod to the globe. You’ll also see the words Global Forever encircling the stamp’s image.

For U.S. territories and overseas military addresses (APO/FPO/DPO addresses), regular domestic stamps, not international, are the way to go.

Is all international mail the same price?

The Global Forever stamp is equivalent to the cost of a one-ounce First-Class Mail International machineable letter in effect at the time of use. If your envelope is heavier or oddly shaped, you'll need additional postage. You can calculate just how much you need using the USPS Postage Price Calculator.

In today’s market, one Global Forever stamp costs $1.70, but if you have older Global Forever stamps already at home, you can use those at any time in the future — they never expire.

What USPS Global Forever stamps are currently for sale?

The latest Global Forever stamp features a colorful 32-point compass rose drawn in 1794 by Lucia Wadsworth — the aunt of poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow — in her school geography notebook when she was 10 years old.

You can also celebrate the winter season with a 2018 Global Forever stamp, still on sale, that highlights the red poinsettia — native to Mexico and closely tied to holiday traditions in the U.S. A perfect touch for sending holiday greetings abroad.

Can I use older Global Forever stamps?

Yes! Though these stamps are no longer available through USPS, they are still valid and can be used on into the future, as Global Forever stamps never lose their value.

The 2022 African Daisy Global Forever stamp featured an image of an orange African daisy, which is native to southern Africa and widely available in U.S. nurseries.

The 2013 Global Forever International stamp highlighted the beauty of our planet with a rendering of Earth from a composite of satellite images.

How do I address international mail?

Envelopes:

  • Write the delivery address clearly in English. Although some countries have different ways of addressing envelopes, you'll want to stick to the standard format used in the United States (see below). If the address is written in a foreign language, include an English translation for each line.
  • Put your/the sender’s address in the top left corner, and don’t forget to put “USA” on the last line under the state and ZIP Code™. Center the delivery address toward the bottom of the envelope, and be sure to include the recipient’s country on the last line.

Postcards:

  • Postcards come in different shapes and sizes, so write the destination address in the space provided. Often this is on the right side of the card, with space for a message on the left. Affix a Global Forever stamp in the top right corner.

Instructions for sending mail overseas:

  1. First, make sure whatever you’re sending is allowed, as other countries sometimes regulate the type of mail recipients can receive. Most standard letters and paperwork are fine without customs forms, but you can confirm via the Index of Countries and Localities.
  2. Decide whether you want to send a postcard (for short missives that don’t need to be private) or a letter (for private correspondence and/or documents).
  3. Correctly address your envelope or postcard (see above).
  4. Determine the correct postage, depending on the size and weight of your envelope. Affix the correct stamp(s) in the upper right corner.
  5. Drop your correspondence in your own mailbox, in a blue collection box, or at your local Post Office.

Customers may purchase stamps and other stamp-related products through The Postal Store, at Post Office™ locations nationwide, by calling 1-844-737-7826, or by mail through USA Philatelic.
