At the same moment Rose Lavelle, Trinity Rodman, Sophia Smith, and the U.S. Women’s National Team were winning gold at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France, women's soccer was winning awards off the field as well.

In addition to being named a winner of the American Graphic Design/GDUSA Award and the Communication Arts Design Award in 2023, the Postal Service's Women’s Soccer stamp also received gold in the 2024 Graphis Design Annual competition

Conjuring the aesthetic of mid-century print design, the stamp features artwork by Noah MacMillan (1988–2022), who used simplified shapes and bold colors to convey the power and speed of the sport.

One of MacMillan’s earliest memories of watching live sporting events as a child was during the 1999 Women’s World Cup. In his professional career, he had the opportunity to produce a variety of sports-related work for Major League Soccer, FIFA, and other clients. Working on the Women’s Soccer stamp felt like the culmination of his professional interests as well as his love of the game.

“U.S. women’s soccer has had such an incredible legacy of success, it was humbling to take this on as a subject,” MacMillan reflected. “The U.S. Women’s National Team has made me proud as a fan on and off the field, so I hope some of that comes through.”
