Washington Territory

This Washington Territory stamp commemorates the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Washington Territory. The Territory was organized in 1853 from a portion of the Oregon Territory. The area’s population grew as a result of fur traders and westward settlers arriving by the Oregon Trail. The stamp features a medallion depicting pioneers and covered wagons, as well as two settlers looking at the Washington landscape.
