Silver Centennial

The Silver Centennial stamp commemorates the discovery of silver at the Comstock Lode in the Utah Territory, which is present-day Nevada. Comstock Lode sparked a silver rush and was one of the largest and richest silver mining ventures in the United States. Several mining camps, including Virginia City and Gold Hill, were established in its vicinity. The stamp depicts a scene of Henry Comstock along with two other men and a horse at the mining location on Mount Davidson.
