About This Stamp

This Mexican Independence stamp commemorates the 150th anniversary of the start of the Mexican War of Independence. The revolution began when a priest, Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla, urged the locals of the town of Dolores to seek independence. Mexico would not achieve independence from Spain until 1821. The stamp features an image of an Independence Day bell.
