About This Stamp

This issuance commemorated the 150th anniversary of Florida statehood. Printed by offset lithography, it presents a poster-like scene in vivid colors: a mint-green alligator, jaws agape, with stylized highlights and shadows, lifting its head from a pool of purple water, against an orange background. The alligator is a commonly used symbol statewide and is the official state reptile.
