About This Stamp

This Flag stamp features an image of a 48-star American flag. The 48-star flag was used for nearly 50 years, following the admission New Mexico and Arizona’s admission into statehood in 1912 until Alaska and Hawaii’s admission into statehood in 1959, respectively. The flag is nicknamed the “Stars and Stripes,” “Old Glory” or “The Star-Spangled Banner.” This is first United States postage stamp to feature the flag as the sole subject.
