About This Stamp

The Postal Service issued the Fishing Boat stamp August 8, 1991, in Washington, D.C. The denomination met the first-class rate for domestic postal cards.

Designed by Pierre Mion, the stamps were produced in the photogravure process by the American Bank Note Company and issued in 500- and 3,000-coils.

The 19-cent Fishing Boat gravure 500-coil stamps were reprinted by Stamp Venturers, Inc., on June 25, 1994, in Arlington, Virginia.

This new issue incorporated a small design change to enable collectors to readily differentiate between American Bank Note's and Stamp Venturers' issues. The change is a single loop of rope on the pole rather than the double loop in the previous issue.
