About This Stamp
This Atoms for Peace stamp was issued to promote the policy of Atoms for Peace. The name “Atoms for Peace” originates from the title of a speech delivered by President Dwight D. Eisenhower to the UN General Assembly in New York City in December of 1953. He proposed a program that would educate institutions within the United States and throughout the world about nuclear technology. The stamp features atomic energy encircling two globes, as well as a quote from the “Atoms for Peace” speech.
